DARIEN, Conn. – The events in Darien this week include a series of spring concerts in Darien schools, talks on finances, and a class on fine wines. Here’s a rundown of what’s happening this week.

Monday, April 30

Growing Good Kids – 11 a.m. Andrea Johnstone of the Child Guidance Center of Connecticut will be at the Darien Library to deliver her talk for parents, “Growing Good Kids: Sharing and Increasing Pro-Social Behaviors.”

Learn How To Felt – 12:30 p.m. The Darien Senior Center, 30 Edgerton St., will host a class on learning how to felt.

Middlesex Middle School Spring Concert – 6:30 p.m. Middlesex holds its spring concert at Darien High School. The sixth and seventh grade choruses will perform at 6:30 p.m. followed by the eighth grade chorus and camerata singers at 8 p.m.

Walt Whitman Talk – 7 p.m. Mark J. Schenker, the Dean of Academic Affars at Yale College, will deliver a talk at the Darien Library on Walt Whitman’s poem “Song of Myself.”

Tuesday, May 1

Investing Talk – 11 a.m. Anthony Chimento of David Lerner and Associates, Inc. will be at the Darien Senior Center to discuss investing. A complimentary lunch will be served.

Grand Central Station Talk – 12:30 p.m. Art Gottlieb will be discussing the rich history of Grand Central Station at the Darien Senior Center.

Sewer Commission – 4:30 p.m. The Sewer Commission will meet in Room 206 of Town Hall.

Spring Concert – 7:30 p.m. The Middlesex Middle School orchestra and rockestra will perform their spring concert at Darien High School.

Planning and Zoning Commission – 8 p.m. The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet in Room 206 of Town Hall.

Wednesday, May 2

Money Conversations for Women – 11 a.m. Rosemary Williams of Women’s Perspective concludes her series of talks at the Darien Senior Center on how women can manage their finances while staying true to their core beliefs.

Social Media Talk – 5:30 p.m. The Darien Chamber of Commerce and the Darien Library host a talk, “Website Marketing Strategies and Social Media Integration” at the Library. Learn how to take your business to the next level.

Wine Class – 7 p.m. The Darien Community Association hosts the first of two wine classes, led by Nicholas Troilo of Nicholas Roberts Wine. The first class will focus on red wines and what to serve them with. The fee for the class is $65 for DCA members and $85 for non-members, which covers both this class and the class on white wines the following week.

Spring Concert – 7:30 p.m. The Middlesex Middle School bands and jazz ensemble will host their spring concerts at Darien High School.

Environmental Protection Commission – 7:30 p.m. The Environmental Protection Commission will meet in Room 206 of Town Hall.

Thursday, May 3

Nutrition Series for Women – 10 a.m. The Darien Community Association hosts the two-part discussion series, “The Reality of Proper Nutrition: Understanding Your Body’s Needs.” The discussions will be led by nutritionist Francine Blinten. Entry is $10 for DCA members and $20 for the public.

Meet the Author – 7 p.m. Author Eloisa James will be at the Darien Library to discuss her book “Paris in Love.” The book is a memoir of how, following a difficult period in her life, James sold her house, took a sabbatical from her job and moved her family to Paris.

Holmes Spring Concert – 7 p.m. Holmes Elementary holds its spring concert at Darien High School.

Christian Science Lecture – 7:30 p.m. Christian Science lecturer Lorenzo Rodriguez will deliver his talk, “Spiritual Solutions for Desperate Situations” at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Darien. The talk is free and open to the public.

Friday, May 4

Mom’s Morning In – 10 a.m. Join the Darien Community Association’s Mom’s Morning In group for their field trip to the Darien Nature Center. Little kids will get to take a hike and meet some animals with a guide. The cost is $10 per child.

Film Screening – 6:30 p.m. The Darien Library will screen “The Descendants.” This Academy Award-winning film stars George Clooney who must re-examine his life after his wife is in a boating accident. Rated R. Another screening will follow at 8:30 p.m.

Small Ensemble Concert – 7:30 p.m. The Darien High School small ensemble will hold its spring concert at the high school.
