What's Happening In Darien This Weekend

DARIEN, Conn. – Among the events in Darien this weekend are a couple of parties for kids and teens, a tag sale for Feed My Starving Children and a choral concert at Noroton Presbyterian Church. Here’s a list of what’s happening.

Friday, May 18

Mom’s Morning In Field Trip : 10 a.m. The Darien Community Association’s Mom’s Morning In program will be taking a field trip to the Darien Nature Center for a guided hike and a chance to meet animals.

Zumba Pizza Party : 5 p.m. The Darien Community Association hosts a Zumba pizza party for kids only, ages five through nine. Entry is $20 per child. 274 Middlesex Road.

Artist reception : 6 p.m. The Darien Library hosts a reception for artist Linda Lyons, whose work will be on display in the lower level gallery throughout May. The library is at 1441 Post Road.

“Margin Call” Screening : 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. The Darien Library hosts two screenings of “Margin Call.” This thriller revolves around the key people in an investment bank over a 24-hour period during the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis.

Hoe-down for teens : 7:30 to 10 p.m. The Depot hosts a hoe-down for teens, featuring a mechanical bull, barbecue, and costume prizes. Entry is $15. 25 Heights Road.

Saturday, May 19

Giant Tag Sale : 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saint Luke’s Parish will host a giant tag sale to benefit Feed My Starving Children. Items for sale include furniture, antiques, collectibles and household items.

Multi-Family Tag Sale : 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Multiple families will be taking part in an annual tag sale on Birch Road. There will be lots of baby and kids items for sale, sports equipment and designer home furnishings.

Car Wash : 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get your car washed at the Depot. They’ll wash dogs, too. .

Sunday, May 20

Spring Choral Concert : 3 p.m. The Noroton Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir, directed by Dwayne Condon, will present John Rutter's “Requiem” and Franz Schubert's “Trout Quintet.” Josiah Armes will accompany. 2011 Post Road.
