What’s Open/Closed For Fouth of July In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. – With the Fourth of July coming up, several places around Darien will be closed or operating on a different schedule. Here's what you need to know before heading out Thursday.

The Post Road in Darien – from Brookside Road to West Avenue – will be closed on Thursday during the annual YMCA Push-n-Pull Parade. Darien police are urging motorists to avoid the area because traffic delays will be long.

What's Closed on Thursday?

  • Darien Town Hall
  • Darien Public Library
  • Darien Recycling and Refuse Center (Open 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday)
  • Post Offices
  • Most banks (call ahead)
  • All state and federal offices

What’s Open?

Most area supermarkets, restaurants, bars, liquor stores and other retail locations are open. However, these places may be operating on a Sunday schedule or special holiday hours or may be closed. Call ahead before heading out to any of these establishments.

Trains

If you’re planning a trip via Metro-North, trains will operate on a Sunday schedule on July 4, with several additional trains to get you to and from the annual Macy’s fireworks display. Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule on Friday and Saturday with extra service throughout the day.
