Joseph Caputo, 22, was wrapped in an American flag when he jumped the fence. His image was captured by a tourist and spread on Twitter.
Caputo, a criminal justice and martial arts student at the University of Bridgeport, will be allowed to attend classes, the Post said.
But he will be under electronic monitoring and an 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew pending another hearing set for Jan. 12 in Washington, D.C., the Post said. He must undergo a mental health evaluation by federal pretrial service officials in Bridgeport, the Post said.
Caputo pleaded not guilty Monday to one misdemeanor count of illegal entry of restricted grounds and faces up to one year in prison if convicted, the Post said.
