Anne 'Nancy' Noble, 70, Of Darien

DARIEN, Conn. - Anne "Nancy" Noble, of Darien, died on Friday, May 8, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 70.

She was born Anne Carter Brown in West Chester, Pa., on July 29, 1934, to Dr. Radford and Katharine Brown. She spent her childhood in Havana, Cuba; Bogota, Colombia; and Lima, Peru, as the stepdaughter of Vicente' Valdez Rodrigues, the Cuban ambassador to South America.

She worked with the nonprofit IESC, helping to prepare retired executives to go abroad aiding in business and economic development in Third World countries.

She is survived by daughters Katharine Norwood and her husband Steve Mason of Rowayton, Wendy Norwood of Brookfield, and Nancy Norwood of Darien; her sister Virginia Martin of Santa Fe, N.M.; three grandchildren, Heather Marsh, Jamie Marsh and Lauren Fisher; five great-grandchildren Willow, Allison, Nolan, Aniya and Evan; and three stepsons, Raymond Noble of Nevada City, Calif.; Thomas Noble of Shirley, N.Y., and John Robert Noble and his wife MuLan of Norwalk.

Noble was predeceased by her parents; her first husband Richard Norwood; second husband Raymond Noble; and her brother Damon Brown.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, at 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Darien, 14 Brookside Road, Darien.
