She was born on July 7, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minn. She spent her childhood with her four brothers in Minneapolis and on the family farm in River Falls, Wis.

During her high school years, she moved with her family to Denver, Colo. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1950. After college, she worked as a researcher in the chemistry departments of Cornell Medical School and Northwestern Medical School.

She met her husband, Arthur Wyman Procter, Jr. in New York City. They had their first two daughters in Chicago before settling permanently in Darien  where their third daughter was born. Procter was a full time mother until returning to work as an administrative assistant at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance in Stamford. She worked there until her retirement.

After retirement, she was always on the go, playing tennis and golf, volunteering at Person-to-Person at Saint Luke's Parish, reading extensively, traveling the world, and visiting friends and family.

Procter enjoyed paddle tennis with friends, traveled across the country and played games and baked Christmas cookies with her grandchildren in the days just before her death. She was full of life, happy, vibrant and active until the end. She was a fantastic role model for her daughters and the world's best grandma to her eight grandchildren.

She and her husband, Arthur Wyman Procter, Jr. had many friends and were involved and respected community members in Darien.

Procter is survived by her younger brother, Fred Carleton; her three daughters, Ellen Procter Wilson, Margaret Procter, and Katharine Procter; her stepdaughter, Prudence Procter Haines; and her grandchildren, Jennifer, Sam, Ben, Carly, Nate, Sophia, Richard, and Sidney.

She was predeceased by her husband.

Expressions of sympathy should be sent to the family c/o Ellen Wilson, 503 Park Way, Piedmont, Calif. 94611.

In lieu of flowers, gifts should be sent in Anne's name to Person-to-Person at Saint Luke's Parish, 1864 Post Road, Darien, Conn. 06820 or to The Wellesley College Fund, Wellesley College Office for Resources, 106 Central Street, Wellesley, Mass. 02481.
