DARIEN, Conn. – Anthony Mario Gurliacci, 88, a longtime resident of Darien, died Wednesday, May 13.

He was born May 4, 1927, in Bridgeport, to Luigi and Concetta D'Urso Gurliacci.

He graduated from Stamford High School in 1945 and then served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army.

After the war, Gurliacci trained at New York City’s American Radio Institute.

He worked as an electrical engineer at Perkin-Elmer Corp. for 40 years, servicing scientific instruments all over the world. He also supervised a manufacturing team in Norwalk.

From the 1990s to 2012, Gurliacci was a salesman for Buck Scientific in Norwalk.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jean Brown Gurliacci; two sons, David Gurliacci of Darien and Mark (Ingrid) Gurliacci of Wilton; one daughter, Lisa (Yoav) Rubinstein of Tel Aviv, Israel; one sister, Ida Taliercio of Groton; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, three brothers, Frank, Domenick, and Armando Gurliacci; and two sisters, Pauline Gurliacci and Olga Harris-Sage, preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 18, at St. John’s Parish, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery.
