Carmella Cantavero, 84, Former Resident Of Stamford, Darien

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Carmella DiNapoli Cantavero, a resident of Stamford and a former longtime Darien resident, died on Thursday, Jan. 8, in Stamford Hospital at age 84.

Born on May 15, 1930 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Bernadette (DeMala) DiNapoli. She  graduated from Stamford High School in 1948.

She loved reading, baking and gardening. Her favorite place to vacation was Florida.

She is survived by her children, Donna Davis of Darien, Conn.; Nicholas Tarzia of Darien, Conn.; Bernadette Napolitano (husband Robert) of Redding, Conn; and Camille Andriunas (husband Gregory) of Darien, Conn.

She was known as "Grammy" to her 10 grandchildren, John Paul Harron (wife Paula), Johanna Longo (husband Anthony), Jerry Davis, Jill Campbell (husband Peter), Clinton Tarzia, Peter Napolitano, Parker Napolitano, Allison Napolitano, Rachel Andriunas and Matthew Andriunas. As well as her seven great-grandchildren, John Paul Harron Jr., Justin Harron, Jayden Harron, Julianna Harron, Alexandra Longo, Ana Longo, and Caroline Campbell.

Carmella is also survived by her sister, Margaret Abbazia of Milford, Conn., and a brother, Pat DiNapoli (wife Mary) of Greenwich, Conn., and a sister-in-law, Marie DiNapoli of Stamford, Conn..

She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Cantavero; a grandson, James Harron and a brother, Alphonse DiNapoli.

The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Friday, Jan. 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A service will follow at 7 p.m. 

Burial will be on Saturday, at 10 a.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
