Born Clarice Estelle Barford on Oct. 8, 1916, to George Frederick Barford and Clarice Robedee Barford in Hamilton, N.Y., she and her older sister Brenda were raised by their father after their mother's death in 1923.
She graduated from Mount Holyoke College and went on to work in the art department there.
On June 22, 1940, she married John Flagg and raised two children in Schenectady, N.Y., where she sang in the choir of First Presbyterian Church and was active in PEO (both in Schenectady and in Darien) and garden club there.
She is survived by her children, George Flagg (Joan) of Stamford and Nancy Savold (Jerry) of Edwards, Colo.; her four grandchildren, John Linfesty (Mari) of Santa Monica, Calif., Susan Flagg of New York City, David Flagg (Mercedes) of Darien and Jeffrey Flagg (Sabrina) of Woodland Hills, Calif.; her eight great-grandchildren Jake Linfesty, Nick Linfesty, Vanessa Flagg, Alyssa Flagg, Lily Flagg, Samantha Flagg, Luke Flagg and Cassidy Flagg.
