DARIEN, Conn. - Edith Balne Kalvaitis of Darien died Oct. 7. She was 95.
Kalvaitis was born June 13, 1919, to Henry James and Sarah Louisa Balne. She lived the first 30 years of her life in Mount Vernon, N.Y. After marriage she lived in Port Chester, N.Y., before moving to Darien. She worked as an executive secretary at GTE Corporation World Headquarters in Stamford, until her retirement in 1985.
Kalvaitis is survived by her sons, Robert D. Kalvaitis of Sierra Madre, Calif., and Ronald D. Kalvaitis of Harwinton; two granddaughters; six great grandchildren; and a niece. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Paul Kalvaitis; and son, Royal Kalvaitis.
Calling hours are Saturday, Oct. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment at Spring Grove Cemetery.
