Elizabeth L. 'Lee' (Boscaino) Sposito, 89, Darien Resident

DARIEN, Conn. — Darien resident Elizabeth L. "Lee" (Boscaino) Sposito, died Sunday, May 15. She was 89 years old.

A New York native, Sposito attended New York City schools and graduated from Julia Richmond High School in Manhattan. 

She started her career as a hairdresser in 1963 and worked in and around Darien until she retired at age 87.

She was active in the Darien community, volunteering for the Noroton Heights Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. 

She also volunteered her services as a hairdresser, assisting women who were unable to leave their homes. 

Sposito is survived by her son, George Sposito, and his wife, Rosemary; her daughter, Denise Shimko, and her husband, Tom; her grandchildren, Tommy Shimko and Maddy Sposito; her sisters, Ann Gleeson and Roseann Casolo; her nephews, Brian Gleeson, Robert Gleeson and his wife, Tammy, and Michael Casolo; and a large extended family.

Sposito was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, George; her parents, Michael and Angelina Boscaino; her brother-in-law, John Gleeson; and her nephew James Casolo.

A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Thursday, May 19, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Burial was to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
