DARIEN, Conn. - Elizabeth (Betty) Layda, a resident of Darien since 1956, died Monday, Oct. 6. She was 96.
Layda was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Stamford, to Ernest Ott and Rose (Bolsegar) Seidel. She graduated from Stamford High School and was a longtime parishioner of St. John Episcopal Church in Stamford.
Layda is survived by her children, Deanna Raffaele (Robert) of Clearwater, Fla., Betty Jane Conners (Michael) of Stamford and Gary Layda (Linda) of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Patricia Layda of Canfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Louis John Layda; son, Louis J. Layda; and sister, Gretchen Betz.
Calling hours are Monday, Oct. 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.
