Eric N. Ferguson, 93, Of Darien

DARIEN, Conn. – Eric N. Ferguson, of Darien and Nantucket, Mass., died on Thursday, June 4. He was 93.

Ferguson was born on March 26, 1922, to George and Helen Ferguson in Motherwell, Scotland, emigrating to the United States in 1926 and graduating from West Orange (N.J.) High School in 1941.

He served in the Navy during World War II, and attended Rutgers University after the war, going on to work with General Motors and the New York Stock Exchange.

Ferguson was heavily involved with Connecticut-based community organizations, including the Boy Scouts, Darien YMCA, Darien Library, Salvation Army, Norwalk Community College, Stamford Hospital, the Connecticut Republican Committee and the Fairfield County Community Foundation

He was predeceased by his wife, Anne.

He is survived by his son G. Neil Ferguson; two daughters, Elizabeth R. Ferguson, Barbara Ferguson St. John and her husband, Brent; two grandchildren, Ford Robert St. John and Tyler Eric St. John, sister-in-law H. Ward Reighley and a step-granddaughter Siobhan McIlhoney.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road in Darien.
