DARIEN, Conn. - James L.P. "Jim" Shand of Darien died May 11. He was 55.
Shand was born on Sept. 4, 1957, in Staten Island, New York. He attended Wagner College on a full athletic scholarship, where he was again elected captain of the football team. He lived in Darien for 28 years, where he was a member of Woodway Country Club.
After graduating from Wagner College in 1979, he worked at Chapdelaine and Tullet Prebon in Lower Manhattan, where he worked for 25 years and served as managing director and head of U.S. Agencies.
Shand is survived by his wife, Janice; son, James Philip; daughter, Julia; brother, Daniel Pieszchala, of New Jersey; and father, Joseph Pieszchala of Florida.
Calling hours are Wednesday, May 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home , 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien. Interment will be private.
