Jennie Anna Major Golden, 92, Former Longtime Darien Resident

DARIEN, Conn. – Jennie Anna Major Golden, 92, a former longtime Darien resident, died on Thursday, April 2, at the Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk.

She was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Stamford, to Eugene and Anna Gavay Major.

A graduate of Stamford High School, Golden worked as a secretary for Norma Hoffman in Stamford during and after World War II.

In her later years, she worked at Stamford Hospital and volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stamford.

She was also involved with the Misfits Bowling League and the Guild for the Visually Handicapped.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia (David) Flynn of Danbury, Lynn J. Golden and Robin Golden Trotter, both of Apollo Beach, Fla.; one sister, Nancy Van Steeden Cox of Southold, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Her husband, John J. Golden Jr.; and one brother, Eugene Major Jr., are deceased.

Calling hours will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien.

Burial will follow in the Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Ave., Darien.
