Joaquin Paul Rodriguez, 83, Of Darien, Korean War Veteran

DARIEN, Conn. - Joaquin Paul Rodriguez of Darien died Sunday, Nov. 24. He was 83.

Rodriguez was born Dec. 16, 1929, in New York City, son of Joaquin Paulino and Josephine Hofmann Rodriguez of New Rochelle, N.Y. He attended Iona Prep and graduated from Georgetown University cum laude with a B.A. in history. He received a commission in the United States Navy, where he served on the aircraft carrier the Kula Gulf during the Korean War. He attended Harvard Business School and upon graduation joined J&W Seligman, where he spent his entire career pursuing his passion for investing. He moved to Darien soon after his marriage. He served for many years on the parish council of St. Thomas More Church, and on the Boards of the Darien Library, The Friends of Post 53 and Kolbe Cathedral High School in Bridgeport.

Rodriguez is survived by his wife, Judith Davidson Rodriguez; daughters, Susan Rodriguez (Charles) Lowrey of New York City, Elizabeth (Jay) Chandler of New York City, Carol (Stephen) Geremia of Sherborn, Mass., and Anne (Bruce) McGuire of Darien; seven grandchildren; and sister, Elaine Rodriguez Rowe of Scarsdale, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents; and  sister, Joan A. Rodriguez.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at St. Thomas More Church in Darien.
