Lena Valeri, 97, Formerly Of Darien, Ran Housekeeping Business

SOUTHBURY, Conn. - Lena Valeri of Southbury, formerly of Stamford and Darien, died Monday, Sept. 29. She was 97.

Valeri was born Nov. 11, 1916, in New York, to Angelina Helen Nobile. She later moved with her parents and six sisters to Stamford. After attending public schools in Stamford, she enrolled in business school and subsequently took a job keeping the books at Mohawk in Stamford. She was married to Larry Valeri. Along with her husband they set up a housekeeping business in Darien.

Valeri is survived by her daughters, Jackie Ronning of Simsbury, Donna Mishico of Woodbury and Nancy Furniss of Canton; sister, Pauline McKale; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Petrina Bisacca, Nancy Martinelli, Josephine Shoztic, Florence McDonough, and Frances Hansen.

Calling hours are Monday, Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Prayer Service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
