Lucille Deran Smith, 91, Formerly Of Darien

NORWALK, Conn. – Lucille Deran Smith, a resident of Norwalk, died. She was 91.

Born in Stamford, she was raised in Darien, and after the birth of her children, she moved to Norwalk. 

She attended Darien High School (class of 1943) and worked in her father’s photography business. She also helped raise money for charitable causes, including the Silvermine Guild of Artists. She also helped out in a friend’s fashion boutique and within a few years, she became one of the top-grossing personal shoppers for Saks Fifth Avenue.

She is survived by her sisters, Delores Dwelle and Elaine Kilbourne; her children, Peter, Greg, Elizabeth Bartram and her husband, David, Edward and his wife, Tracey and Read and his wife, Karen; her grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Smith, Mac, Hunt and Paige Bartram and Mason Landon-Smith.

She was predeceased by her brother, Lt. Leon Deran; and sister, Jean D. Montaperto.

There will be calling hours from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Magner Funeral Home, located at 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Thomas More Church in Darien.
