Mary J. Roda, 86, Of Darien, Retired Clairol Employee

DARIEN, Conn. – Mary J. Roda, 86, of Darien, died Saturday, June 13.

She was born Aug. 10, 1928, to the late Carmelo and Lucia Citarella Roda of Stamford.

Roda worked at Cutex for 16 years. She then worked at Clairol as a line worker and later a supervisor for 33 years, until she retired.

During World War II, she sold war bonds. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW throughout her life.

Survivors include one brother, Sabbo (Carol) Roda of Fairfield; three sisters, Carmela Vatelle of Newtown, Elizabeth Russo of Southbury, Anna (Joseph) Gallace of Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Four sisters, Philomena Musacchio, Edith Sileo, Pauline Lovito, and Frances Nigro, preceded her in death.

Calling hours will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave at 12:40 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien.

Interment will follow in the Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Ave., Darien.
