Paul Andrew Brunner, 78, Of Darien, President And CEO Of Spring Capital

DARIEN, Conn. - Paul Andrew Brunner, a resident of Darien for nearly 33 years, died Sunday, June 1. He was 78.

Brunner was born in Antwerp, Belgium, and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was the son of Ziegmund Brunner and Juliette Wisslitz Brunner.

He received his bachelor's degree from University of Buenos Aires and his MBA from Syracuse University and was a licensed CPA. He started his career with Coopers & Lybrand before he started his rise to become president of Crouse Hinds Corp. He went on to become president of ASEA Brown Boveri Inc. in 1981, and subsequently president and CEO of Spring Capital in 1986. He also served on the boards of both Johnson Controls Corp. and Trex Co. Inc.

Brunner is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Darien; daughter, Pamela Lancaster (Olin); two  grandchildren; and son, Daniel (Christine). He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are Thursday, June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Tokeneke Beach Club, 4 Butlers Island Road, Darien, with a repast to follow.
