Gardner was born Oct. 21, 1957, and resided in both Avon, Colo., and a resident of Darien since 1996. He was a fourth generation Colorado native. He grew up in Denver and graduated from University of Utah in 1979 and began his career in technology working for ROLM before moving to Novell, Citrix and Hewlett-Packard where he was vice president of Distribution Sales, Enterprise Security Products. He belonged to the Country Club of Darien, Red Sky Golf Club in Walcott, Colo., and Naples Grande Golf Club in Naples, Fla. He was chairman of the board of The Can Do Center in Vail, Colo., a charity which assists multiple sclerosis patients, and also served on the board of the Eagle Valley Land Trust.

Gardner is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Carder Gardner; parents, Mary Shoup Gardner and Glenn Gibson Gardner of Old Snowmass, Colo.; brother, Peter Stacey Gardner of Aurora, Colo.; and sister, Elizabeth Paulin Gardner of Evergreen, Colo.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Noroton Presbyterian Church, 211 Post Road, Darien. A second memorial service will be held in Vail, Colo., at a later date.

Donations may be made in Gardner's name to the American Cancer Society, 38 Richards Ave., Norwalk or The MS Can Do Center (CANDOMS.org).
