NORWALK, Conn. — Christopher Morin, who was active in the sports scene in Norwalk, died on Tuesday, June 13, at Norwalk Hospital. He was 46.
Morin suffered a pulmonary embolism shortly after he began treatment for Stage 4 cancer.
He was born July 13, 1970, in White Plains, N.Y. Morin grew up in Riverside and was a member of Innis Arden, where he developed his love of swimming and water polo. He was a member of the Greenwich High School Swim and Water Polo team, and later the Lynchburg College team.
After college, Morin met and married, Kate Owen, and together they moved to Norwalk.
He was a devoted family man who lived to be at the pool with Torie, on the baseball field with Alistair, and making pancakes for anyone who would eat them.
"He never found a sport he didn’t love, a song he didn’t dance to, a tech gadget he couldn’t master, or a movie he didn’t re-watch 17 times," his obituary said.
Morin was a coach and board member for Norwalk Little League and officiated Zeus swim meets.
He was passionate about his faith. The family attended Trinity Church in Greenwich for many years, and Morin sat on the Trinity council. In recent years, the family became involved with YoungLife Norwalk and most recently with the Church of the Good Shepard and Soulfire Ministries.
He is survived by his wife Kate; children Victoria (Torie) and Alistair (Ali); his mother Theresa Morin; his brother Patrick Morin; his sister and niece Jennifer Morin MacDougall and Marley MacDougall; as well as Kate’s family, father Jerry Owen; sister Isobel Owen, her children Emilia, Sofia and Lucas and their father José Miguel Cuevas; and brother Edward Owen, his wife Caryn, and their children Kai and Beckett.
He was predeceased by his father Randall Morin and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Owen.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 163 New Canaan Ave., Norwalk.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family’s memorial fund at www.gofundme.com/rememberingchrismorin .
