Letter: Darien Human Services Asks For Help With Holiday Program

DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Please send letters to darien@dailyvoice.com

To the Editor:

Darien Human Services has begun its holiday program planning and is requesting assistance from the Darien community. Last year, 151 Darien children, their families and senior citizens in need, received gifts and gift cards to make their holiday brighter. We are how accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys and gift cards in our office, Room 109, in the Town Hall.

You can view gift suggestions on our website under the Town Services tab and then by clicking on Human Services or on our “Giving Tree” in the Town Hall foyer and other locations around town. We want to thank all those who have donated in the past and welcome new donors this year.

You will also find, during the weekends leading up to Christmas, the Darien Unit of the Salvation Army ringing the bell at Palmers Market and collecting donations in the iconic red kettle. Ninety percent of all the donations collected in this kettle stay right here in Darien to support our residents, in need, all year long. Our volunteers are all Darien residents who stand long hours, sometimes in bad weather, manning the kettle to help their neighbors. Please be as generous as you can.

Wishing you all the best of holidays and thanking you in advance for your support.
