As Council of Darien School Parent (CDSP) budget representatives we would like to express our support for the Board of Education Recommended Budget for 2013-14.
We would also like to take this opportunity to encourage parents to reach out to our elected Board of Finance officials to make their voices heard. In a year with no new initiatives, we should be focusing on the infrastructure that supports our students’ growth and development. Our schools need new carpeting, painting, furniture and at a minimum, two generators for Hindley and Ox Ridge schools that suffer serious damage during power outages.
Let us not be complacent about addressing the important and most basic needs of our schools.
— Patty McCormick & Tara Ochman, Ox Ridge School CDSP budget representatives

Could someone please explain why a school needs a generator when they cancel school at the first hiccup in the weather.
