To the Editor:

Before this November comes to an end I wish to thank the people of our great state for voting on Election Day. It’s your right and exercising that right is just one way we continue to preserve our freedoms.

On Veterans Day, we honored the men and women who, throughout the history of our Nation, have served to protect our freedoms, even at the expense of their own. Let’s not wait another year to honor them again. Instead, let’s all be thankful, that at this very moment, there is a soldier, a thousand miles from home, who gave up his/her comfort and privilege so we can enjoy ours.?

Finally, on this Thanksgiving Day, let us remember who we are as a people. Setting aside the religious and cultural differences that make us unique, and being thankful for what makes us American.

Our belief that all things are possible for those who are willing to put in the effort. America remains the Land of Opportunity.

That there is no adversity we cannot overcome. In our short history we have weathered many a war, famine and financial disaster. We have always emerged stronger and more closely knit. We will do this again.

That we are a generous people. Having been blessed, we are quick to bless our neighbors, be they across the street or across the globe. And if we are not rich in wallet, we are certainly rich in heart.

Best wishes for the holiday season and a great new year

Sincerely,  Sen. Bob Duff
