DARIEN, Conn. -- An American flag displayed above the overpass on Noroton Avenue was defaced earlier this week by an unknown person who cut the number 12 into it, according to the Darien Times.
No one is sure of the meaning, or significance of the number 12, the paper said.
The flag is provided by a private donor and the town's Monuments & Ceremonies Commission handles the replacement when it becomes damaged or torn, reported the news source.
