Marcela Macarena Olivera-Lopez, 27, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of marijuana and sale of marijuana. She posted $1,000 bond and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Police received information that a drug deal would take place that day near the corner of Oak Crest and Mansfield Avenue. Officers set up in the area and observed Olivera-Lopez arrive in a 2006 Nissan Sentra, police said. They then saw a 19-year-old Stamford man approach the car with $100 in his hand.

When Olivera-Lopez got out of the car, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and moved in, police said.

When officers asked her what she was doing there, she said she was there to sell a quarter-ounce of marijuana to the Stamford man for $100, according to police.

Officers could see in plain view a sandwich bag with marijuana sitting in the front passenger seat, police said. They also found a jar with 14 small bags of marijuana totaling 20.5 grams, police said. Both she and the Stamford man said that she had sold marijuana to him in the past, according to police. She was then taken into custody.
