The theft is believed to have occurred between Jan. 2 and 3 and was reported on Jan. 5, police said.

A woman said her son had parked their 2005 Chevy Suburban in the driveway at about 3 p.m. Jan. 2. On the morning of Jan. 3, she noticed that the driver's door and left passenger door were ajar, and discovered that $25 in cash had been taken, and that items had been moved around in the backseat, police said.

She later discovered that two American Express cards and her driver's license had been stolen out of a wallet that she kept beneath the driver's seat, police said.

Police said the American Express cards were both used to make $319 in purchases at a Best Buy Express kiosk at an I-95 service station. The matter is under investigation.
