DARIEN, Conn. – A husband and wife from Norwalk were charged with misdemeanor sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy Sunday after they shoplifted $143 worth of grocery items from the Darien Whole Foods market on Ledge Road, police said.
Carlos Rodriguez, 70, and Elva Rodriguez, 67, of Ward Street, were arrested outside of the Whole Foods just before 2 p.m., Darien police said.
The two were seen placing the undisclosed items into Elva’s purse and then leaving the store without paying for them, police said. Store management contacted police, and officers made the arrests after the two left the store, police said.
Both were released on promises to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 24.
