Darien Driver In One-Car Crash Charged With DUI

DARIEN, Conn. – A Darien man was charged last week with driving under the influence in a single-car accident that sent him to the hospital in September, according to police reports.

On Sept. 7 at about 8 p.m. police were called to the scene of an accident on Ledge Road near the Interstate 95 exit ramp. Accident investigators found that a car had crossed over both lanes of traffic and the center median before hitting a tree on the side of the road, according to the police report.

Christopher Robinson, 51, of Anthony Lane was inside the car after the accident, police said. Officers smelled alcohol on his breath while pulling him out of the car and then took him to Stamford Hospital for treatment for serious injuries, police said.

Darien Police obtained a warrant for his medical records, which showed that Robinson’s blood alcohol content was over the legal limit at the time of the accident, according to police reports. He was arrested on a warrant for a driving under the influence charge on Oct. 7. Robinson was released on $250 bond and is due in court on Oct. 18.
