Darien Home Broken Into On Halloween

DARIEN, Conn. - A Darien man returned home Halloween in time to disrupt a burglary at his house.

When the man pulled into the driveway of his Hoyt Street home, he saw a suspicious white Chevy Impala already parked there. He blocked the car in and went around to the back of the house. As he was entering the back door he heard a car leaving his driveway. He went to the front of the house and saw that the Impala had driven over the lawn and left.

The resident never saw the person who entered his house, but the Impala was described as “beat up” and had a Texas registration. It is uncertain how entry to the house was gained, police said, as there were no signs of forced entry. The perpetrator had gone through dresser drawers of the master bedroom and one of the children’s bedrooms, police said. An undetermined amount of jewelry was taken from a box in the master bedroom, police said
