DARIEN, Conn. — After police busted an underage drinking party in Darien, they issued summonses to the host's parents for allowing minors to have alcohol, police said.
Darien officers were called to a "large party that may involve underage drinking" at 9:36 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, in the area of Pembroke Road near Wrenfield Lane.
Upon arrival, officers saw many youths running in the area, police said.
They determined that the party was at the home at 1 Wrenfield Lane and saw several youths inside the residence consuming alcoholic beverages, police said.
Officers then met with the homeowners, Serge and Anna Doroshin, who said, "they allowed their son to have 'some friends over for a small party,' but more began to arrive."
Both parents said they did not provide any of the alcohol to the juveniles and “did not know they were drinking alcohol,” police said.
Officers canvassed the home and saw obvious signs of a party, police said.
They also searched the area for an extended period to locate the youths, who had fled in below-freezing temperatures, police said.
In all, about 60 juveniles were estimated to have been at the party, police said.
Both Anna Doroshin, 44, and Serge Doroshin, 61, were each issued a misdemeanor summons for failing to prevent possession of alcohol by a minor. Each was released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 17.
The Youth Division and the Darien High School Resource Officer were notified of the incident and will be conducting follow-up action, police said.
