Management reported the bill to police after confirming it as a fake with a marker test, the Times said. A Darien police officer confirmed the bill did not have a security strip, the story said.

Multiple counterfeit bills with the same serial number have been used across the state, police told the Times. Police believe the customer did not intentionally try to pass a counterfeit bill, the Times said.
