Officers first responded to a burglar alarm at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22 at 29 Delafield Island Road in Darien, police said.

Upon checking the residence, officers found two broken window panes in a rear door that had been left ajar, police said.

After several other officers responded to the scene, they determined that the house was unoccupied. Upon further investigation, officers also found a rear window that had been broken and forced open, police said.

They also found scratches on the window of a second door at the rear of the home. They appeared to be an attempt to break the glass, but it had remained intact, police said.

The interior of the residence appeared to be in order, and nothing was reported missing, police said.

Officers conducted a canvass in the neighborhood, and the Detective Bureau responded to process the scene.

The second burglar alarm came in at 8:35 p.m. Dec. 22 about 3.5 miles away at 1 Shady Acres Road, police said.

While checking the home's exterior, officers found a broken window in the rear, police said.

The glass had been broken just above the window lock, but the window was still locked and did not appear to have been opened, police said.

Several other officers responded to the scene and checked the rest of the home, police said.

No other damage was found on the home's exterior, police said.

Officers then gained entry to the residence for a security check and nothing appeared to be out of order, police said.

"It did not appear that the suspects actually entered the residence," police said.

Officers conducted a canvass in the neighborhood, and the Detective Bureau responded to process the scene.
