Darien Police Issue 5 Marijuana-Possession Tickets At DUI Checkpoints

DARIEN, Conn. – Darien Police issued five tickets for marijuana possession but made no arrests at DUI checkpoints last week.

Darien Police set up checkpoints on Hoyt Street on Aug. 22 and Post Road on Aug. 23. The stops yielded no arrests for driving while intoxicated, according to police reports.

Five of the stopped cars contained small amounts of marijuana, which was found through interviews with the drivers and tests by K-9 officer Zulu, police said. Mail-in infractions were issued to all five drivers, because in all five cases the amount found was less than a half ounce.

The drivers cited include a 19-year-old Stamford woman, a 28-year-old Norwalk man, a 27-year-old Stamford man, a 22-year-old Norwalk woman and a 30-year-old Stamford man.

No other incidents were reported during the checkpoints, according to Darien Police.
