The grant funding of $54,000 will be used by the Darien Police to conduct aggressive DUI enforcement through October 2015.

The Darien Police Department intends to work cooperatively with the Stamford Police Department, which also received grant funding of its own for DUI enforcement, to deploy DUI sobriety checkpoints and roaming patrols.

The checkpoints and patrols will be conducted at times when the offenses of DUI are most common, predominately nights and weekends.
