DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Police Commission recently promoted two Darien officers.

Donald B. Anderson was promoted to captain and John P. Lawlor was promoted to lieutenant in November.

Darien Police Chief Duane J. Lovello applauded the promotions.

“The promotion of these two impressive individuals brings additional energy to a police department the community can be proud of," Lovello said. "Both have always demonstrated uncompromising commitment to the betterment of the department. I am thankful to see their hard work rewarded with well-deserved promotions – promotions that will serve our community well.”

Anderson has been a member of the Darien Police Department since 1983 and works with the Administrative Services Bureau. He was promoted to sergeant in 1999 and lieutenant in 2000, where he served as a Platoon Commander in the Uniform Division.

Anderson is the son of the late Bruce M. Anderson, former Darien chief of police. Anderson lives in Trumbull with his wife, Georgia, and two daughters, Megan and Ashley.

Lawlor has been a member of the Darien Police Department since 1985. He was promoted to sergeant in 2000, serving as the department’s Training Sergeant for the past three years. He is a longtime member of the department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Scuba Team.

With his promotion, Lawlor will be assigned to the Patrol Division. Lawlor lives in Trumbull with his wife, Silvia, and three children.
