The incident occurred June 12 at about 9 a.m. when the 50-year-old woman was walking her dog on a leash near her home on Homestead Road, police said. When they passed a neighbor's house, the neighbor's female black lab mix came out and attacked her dog, according to police reports.

The woman's dog was bit on the rear end and neck, police said. The woman tried to break up the two dogs, and suffered injuries in the process, police said. She was bit on the left cheek, the left quad, the left shin and in two locations on her right calf, according to police. She told police that she did not know which dog bit her during the fight.

The woman met with the dog's owner, who said the dog was up to date on her shots, police said. The woman told police that she didn't even notice her own injuries during the incident but later sought medical attention.

She also took her dog to an animal hospital in Norwalk, where it was treated for puncture wounds to the neck and rear legs, police said.

The woman reported the incident to police on June 18. Police spoke to the black lab's owner, who said that the dog got out of the house while a construction worker went into the garage, but that the dog was up to date on its shots and licenses.

Both dogs were quarantined in their homes for 14 days, according to protocol, and the animal control officer is following up on the case, police said.
