Darien Woman Charged With Selling Prescription Drugs

DARIEN, Conn. – A Darien woman was charged with selling prescription medications out of her Glenwood Drive home last week, according to police reports.

The Darien Police investigation started with a traffic stop on Sept. 3. Robert Fragiacomo, 48, of Shaw Avenue in Norwalk was pulled over on minor motor vehicle charges on the in Darien.

A search of Fragiacomo’s car turned up 35 prescription medications, including Hydrocodone, Diazepam, Alprazolam and Lorazepam, and $7,766 in cash, police said. 

At the time Fragiacomo was arrested and charged with illegally obtaining prescription drugs, illegal sale of prescription drugs and use of drug paraphernalia. He was held on $25,000 bond, and was arraigned on Sept. 17.

Police found that the prescriptions were not made out to Fragiacomo, and their investigation led them to the home of Maria Devico, 48, of Glenwood Drive. Officers did surveillance at Devico’s home, and believe drug sales were occurring in the house, according to police reports.

Darien Police filed for a warrant for Devico’s arrest, and stopped her in a car driven by Fragiacomo on Sept. 17. At the time she was carrying a small amount of marijuana, police said. Police also seized drug paraphernalia from her home that day, according to police reports.

Devico was charged with illegal distribution of prescription drugs and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana on Sept. 17. She was released on a promise to appear in court and is due in court Friday.

During the arrest, Fragiacomo appeared unsteady on his feet, and was put through field sobriety tests by officers at the scene. He failed those tests, and was charged with driving under the influence, according to police reports. He was released after posting a $250 bond, and is due in court for that charge Friday.

Brian James, 48, of Port Chester, N.Y. also pulled into the driveway at the Glenwood Avenue home on the day of the arrests, police said. Officers found that James had three plastic bags, with a total of 1.75 ounces of marijuana inside, according to police reports.

James was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of marijuana and sale of a controlled substance. He was held on a $25,000 bond, and taken to court on Sept. 18.
