DARIEN, Conn. – A Darien woman was charged with assault on a police officer after cops said she fought with them during an arrest on driving under the influence charges last week.
Darien Police received reports of an erratic driver on the Post Road at about 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 13. A Hollow Tree Ridge Road resident eventually flagged down officers on patrol to direct them to her front yard, where a car had driven into a small embankment, police said.
A bottle of beer fell out of the car when the woman exited, according to witness reports. When police arrived the driver began yelling profanities at the officers, and at one point removed her shirt and threw it at an officer, police said. As officers took her into custody, she fought and kicked police during the struggle, according to police reports.
Once at the Darien police station, the woman again tried to undress herself, and struggled with officers when they tried to take her from the booking area to a cell, police said. While fighting she bit one of the officers on the elbow, according to the police report.
Allison Richards, 27, of Fairfield Avenue in Darien was charged with driving under the influence (third offense), assault on a police officer, a breach of the peace and interfering with police. She was held on a $2,800 bond.
