WESTPORT, Conn. — A speeding vehicle at 2 a.m. Wednesday attracted the attention of Westport Police officer, who stopped the car and discovered the driver had been drinking alcohol and arrested her, police said.
Kathryn Velesbir, 25, of Darien was charged with operating under the influence.
The officer noticed a vehicle traveling north on Riverside Avenue at a high rate of speed. After stopping the car, the officer detected what seemed to be an odor of alcohol and the driver's speech appeared to be slow and slurred, police said. Her eyes also appeared to be glazed over, police said.
Police said she failed the standard roadside sobriety tests as well as a breath test when she was taken to headquarters.
Her bond was set at $500, and Velesbir was released to appear in court on Jan. 13.
