DARIEN, Conn. -- Officials have ruled Tuesday's death of a pedestrian struck by a tractor-trailer on I-95 in Darien was a suicide, according to Darien Times.

The Chief Medical Examiner's office in Farmington made the ruling on the cause of death for Timothy Sheridan, 51, of Stamford, the Darien Times reports. He was hit by a northbound tractor-trailer traveling on I-95 near Exit 9.

Several motorists reported the incident, which closed down part of I-95 for hours for the investigation.
