DARIEN, Conn. - An injured dog was found in a plastic bag behind a Darien restaurant Sunday, according to police. The dog was later euthanized.

Employees of Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza found the brown and white beagle in a black plastic bag covered by a cardboard box near the Dumpsters behind the restaurant. The dog did not have a collar or tags, and appeared to have been in the bag for several hours, police said. It was old, very dirty and unable to move, according to police.

The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital for evaluation. Due to the dog’s condition, the veterinarian decided it was best to euthanize the animal, police said.
