DARIEN, Conn. -- Someone drove a golf cart into a water hazard on the 13th hole of the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien last week, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the club on Thursday, July 27 on a report of damage to a golf cart. The complainant said that four people had used the cart the day prior, leaving it parked near the 13th hole for a period of time in the afternoon. When they returned to the cart, it was missing, police said.
The group reported the cart missing to the head pro at the club. Police said this was not unusual, as many times members take available golf carts, so nobody went looking for it. At the end of the day, the club was one cart short.
The following day, staff looking for the cart found it partially submerged in a water hazard on the 13th hole. The cart, which was worth an estimated $6,000, was totaled, police said. Officers conducted a canvass of nearby homes, but no suspects were identified.
