DARIEN, Conn. — Darien detectives and the FBI are working to identify the suspect who held up a Darien bank on Tuesday afternoon and fled in a white sedan getaway car, police said.
The robbery was reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chase Bank at 165 Noroton Ave., Detective James Palmieri said.
A tall black man entered the bank and passed a note to a teller demanding money, witnesses told police. The note implied that he had a firearm but no weapon was displayed, Palmieri said. Cash was given to the suspect, who immediately left without incident, he said.
The suspect was last seen getting into a white sedan, possibly with New Jersey plates, parked in a lot adjacent to the bank on Heights Road, Palmieri said.
Pictures of the suspect, above, were captured on bank surveillance cameras.
The robbery is under active investigation by the Darien police and the FBI, he said.
Anyone who has any information about the bank robbery or who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the Darien Police Detective Bureau at 203-662- 5330.
