DARIEN, Conn. -- A Bronx man was accused of trying to steal cigarettes from Stop & Shop on Sunday night, Darien Police said.
Andrew Bradshaw, 21, was charged with criminal attempt to sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. He posted a $5,000 bond and will go to court on Feb. 8.
Employees at the Goodwives Shopping Center Stop & Shop saw Bradshaw behind the service desk around 9:50 p.m., according to police. They believe that he was trying to steal cigarettes from a glass case. When employees called out to him, he jumped over the counter and ran out of the store with the employees in pursuit, police said.
Police arrived and saw Bradshaw running from the employees. He ignored orders to stop fleeing, police said, and officers wrestled him to the ground and took him into custody.
