Man Found Asleep At Wheel In Darien Charged With DUI

DARIEN, Conn. – A Bridgeport man was charged with driving under the influence last weekend after he was found in a car stopped in the middle of Raymond Street in Darien, according to police reports.

Darien Police received a report of a car blocking traffic on Raymond Street just before midnight Saturday, police say. When officers arrived, they found David Calderon, 31, asleep behind the wheel, according to police reports. The keys were in the ignition and the car was in drive at the time, but the engine was not running, police say.

When asked whether he knew where he was, Calderon replied that he believed he was in West Haven, according to the police report. He failed field sobriety tests at the scene but refused to take a breath test, police say.

Calderon was charged with driving under the influence and released after posting $250 bond. He is due in court July 31.
