Numerous Cars Broken Into In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. - A car was stolen and several more were broken into in the area of Relihan Road in Darien, according to police .

The owner of a gray 2011 BMW X3 reported that the car had been taken out of his driveway. He had parked it at 7:15 p.m. on Nov. 19 and discovered at 9 a.m. on Nov. 20 that it had been stolen. He told police that he was not sure if he had locked the car, and he may have left a spare key fob in the car. Another one of his cars was also broken into and a $200 GPS was stolen. The car had been left unlocked, police said.

A resident of nearby Thomasina Lane reported that her car had also been broken into on Nov. 19 while parked in the driveway. When she went to her car at 9 a.m., Nov. 20 she discovered that her wallet had been taken out of the pocketbook she had left in the front seat. The $200 wallet contained $400, as well as several credit cards, which were canceled before they were used.

While police were investigating the break-ins, they were approached by a Relihan Road resident who said that three of his cars had been broken into. All three had been left unlocked, and a GPS and an iPod had been taken.

Another unlocked car on Relihan Road was broken into, police said. The car had been left unlocked and had not been used in a while. The glove compartment had been rifled through and some change was taken.

At 4:30 a.m. Wednesday a resident of Anthony Lane discovered that she looked out her window and saw someone running up her driveway. The door to her car was slightly ajar, and $7 in singles had been taken. The car had been left unlocked. The complainant was not able to provide a description of the person she saw because it was too dark.
