DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien police are on the lookout for a man who took a package that a 75-year-old woman gave him by mistake, thinking he was a FedEx delivery person, police said.
On March 4, a resident of Harbor Road reported a suspicious person had been at her home, police said. The woman told officers that she had scheduled a pickup from FedEx at her house that day between noon and 3 p.m. At 1:30 p.m. a knock came on her door from a man, whom she described as a black man with light skin, 6 feet tall and wearing a gray overcoat, police said.
Thinking he was the delivery man, the woman gave him a package containing a $300 VCR/DVD player, as well as a manila envelope containing personal tax information, police said. He took the items and left, police said.
About an hour later the real delivery man showed up, prompting the woman to call the police.
