Police: Jewelry Stolen During Darien Teen Party

DARIEN, Conn. – Close to $20,000 worth of jewelry was stolen during a party a Darien teen threw while his parents were out of town, police said.

One teen also was transported to the hospital during the incident.

Police said Thursday night an officer spotted two teens leaving a home on Brookside Road carrying a 30-pack of beer. Police said there were numerous teens in the house, which had several empty 30-packs of beer, empty cups and liquor bottles and the remnants of a beer pong game. Police said they found a drunk teen passed out on the couch, who began vomiting uncontrollably when he woke up. He was taken to Stamford Hospital by Post 53 EMS.

Police spoke to the 17 year-old who hosted the party, who said he only planned on having a small party but it got out of control. He was charged with serving alcohol to minors, and a family friend was contacted to supervise him until his parents returned home.

When the parents got home, they found somebody had entered the master bedroom and stolen jewelry from the jewelry box. Reported stolen was a $6,500 lady’s watch with diamonds, a gold watch worth $5,000, a men’s watch worth $5,000, a $1,000 pair of cufflinks and a $2,000 pair of cufflinks.
